Student FAQs

Who can apply to The List?

We welcome applications from current undergraduate and graduate students who have skills in and around UX research and design, product management, marketing, AI/ML and software development. For certain projects, we may recruit specific additional specialties. We particularly encourage applications from students from underrepresented backgrounds in tech.

What is the time commitment?

The mentored summer internship program runs for 10 weeks. Students must be able to commit to the full duration of the program.

Individual opportunities will vary; we suggest that projects are scoped for students to work ~5-10 hours/week while classes are in session and may be up to 40 hours/week for summer internships.

Is this a paid opportunity?

Yes! Students receive competitive compensation for their work for all internship opportunities.

We may also share volunteer opportunities and course credit opportunities if we feel they are appropriate for you. Earning credit will be dependent on your school and program, so we’ll only share if we’ve already worked out those details.

What kind of projects will I work on?

Projects will vary but may include things like: building new features, improving existing products, or doing discovery research. We work with startups of all sorts and at lots of different levels, so no 2 projects look the same!

What support will I receive?

If you are involved in a mentored internship, you'll have regular support from The Seed List team, access to workspace at American Underground, and guidance from your matched startup. We also provide orientation training and weekly check-ins.

When do applications open?

You can sign up to learn about resources and opportunities any time! We’ll continually share throughout the year.

Applications for our Summer 2026 will open in March 2026.
